Playa Punta Blanca

Punta Blanca comprises a two large beaches on either side of a marina yacht club and water park. Both beaches are very broad with a shallow gradient into the water. Housing in this area is quite expensive, despite the ruggedness of the area, dirt roads, and absence of gated communities.

The Mediterranean and adobe-style homes in this area are a mix of beach front properties and a few small apartments to north of the yacht club, which are literally at sea level. Many of these properties have very large lots with massive yards in front of the beach.

Near the yacht club itself, there is a large apartment building and a couple of new developments. While to the south of the yacht club, the properties are elevated from the beach on the headland with more restricted beach access.

Punta Blanca has over a dozen entrances to the area from the Ruta del Sol about one mile away, mostly on dirt roads. Limited parking and difficult beach access, means these beaches are quite private and mostly used by residents of the area. The most popular public beach is Punta 7, a vast white sand beach at the end of entrance 7.

There are no shops or restaurants along the beach and no covered areas, except canopies belonging to home owners. So come prepared with your own shade and lots of sun screen. Near the yacht club, there are sometimes a few hawkers selling ice creams and drinks, but not much else. During high-season, there are sometimes life guards posted along the beach.
