Due to a steady breeze and its westward shoreline, the small seaside town of Crucita is recognized as one of the best sites for Paragliding, and is without doubt the best coastal paragliding spot. It is also a good location for kite surfing.

Crucita is normally a quiet rustic town, but during Carnival time is is home to hoards of local tourists from the region, since it is only 50 mins away from both Manta and Manabi’s capital city Portoviejo.

Thanks to a relatively dry climate, Crucita, along with many of its neighboring town including San Clemente, has become quite a popular spot for expat retirement homes, and there are a number of high-end, yet affordable, beachfront developments.

Over the years, there has been talk of developing a marina to the north of the town, however that has not transpired and there are no immediate plans to build it.

Paragliding: Crucita is recognized as the best coastal location for this exciting sport, and is one of town’s the main attractions. The launch point is La Loma – the cliff just 15 min to the south of the town, giving you a spectacular view of Crucita and its surroundings from the air. Conditions are favorable for paragliding almost the year round (see Map marker).

Kite Surfing: Steady on-shore / cross-shore winds and a very long beach make for good kite surfing conditions year round, though Sept thru December are generally the better months.

Bird Watching: The region in general is excellent for bird watching, both inland and in the mangroves area known as La Boca which about 20 minutes north by car, near San Jacinto / San Clemente.
