El Pelado Beach |
Next Beach ► |
Only 6 km north of Playas (General Villamil beach), El Pelado has one of the best waves in Guayas province. This uncrowded surf spot has right handed beach and reef breaks. However, it is rocky and only suitable for experienced surfers.
Glassy water and big swells make for great surfing, especially from Dec thru April. El Pelado is in good company, being just one of a dozen first class surf spots within 20 km of Playas.
Other than great waves, there is not much else here, except 9 km of beach stretching north to Puerto Engabao.
At the end of the Calle El Pelado is a small salt processing plant, with ten or so evaporation ponds.
